During the recent mid-semestral break in March, Dr Jeffrey Truscott taught as a guest lecturer in the B Th worship course of Rev Tumpal Siritongu at Sekolah Tinggi Teologi (STT) Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) Pematangsiantar, Indonesia. On March 11 and 12, 2019, he lectured on “Liturgy and Church Architecture” and “The Lutheran Liturgy Today.” On March 18 and 19, 2019, he presented lectures entitled “Music and Lutheran Liturgy,” and “The Liturgical Year.” Additionally, he lectured on baptism, the Lord’s Supper and liturgy and culture to a special gathering of M Th students that took place on March 14 and 15. Dr Truscott was graciously hosted by STT’s principal Rev Dr Victor Tinambunan, who is a TTC alumnus (DTh, 2013).

On March 20, Dr Truscott also presented his lecture on the Lutheran Liturgy to a gathering at the HKBP Bible Women’s College near Lake Toba, Indonesia. This was followed by an engaging discussion about the Lutheran liturgy and its relationship to contemporary worship.

Dr Truscott is thankful to his hosts in Indonesia for the invitation to teach and learn more about the life and work of the Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP).
