Pressing on the Upward Way

“Keep on encouraging one another”, and “Do not neglect meeting!” encourages the writer of Hebrews 10:25. The TTC Graduating Class of 2016 (English Department) endeavoured to do exactly that when we met for our first anniversary on 15 May 2017, a year and a day on from our graduation.

Each of us had been thrust into the busyness of life and ministry after completing our studies and so this was a chance for many of us to catch up with classmates who we used to see on a daily basis.

Even though we had set the date a year in advance, several had work exegencies to attend to. But such is the life of the minister of God! Even so, in His grace, He even allowed one of our classmates to arrange her schedule so that she could fly back from Manila to join us.

“Pressing on the upward way”, which was our yearbook theme, certainly described many of the uphill battles we had encountered. It was a heartwarming time as we shared our ministry victories and struggles, some more exciting than others, but all in recognition that the same God was at work in all our lives despite our different paths.

One thing we also recognised as a class was the impact that the TTC faculty had had on our formation. We were overjoyed that two lecturers and their families were able to join in our celebrations, which included a buffet dinner catered from a social enterprise.

Now as we once again head out to be lux mundi (light of the world), the prayer of our hearts is that we remain one in Spirit, spurring each other on to good works, all for the sake of Jesus and the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Till we meet again!
